County honours round off campaign

Ryman Premier Enfield Town have rounded off the 2016-17 season by winning two prestigious awards from the Middlesex Football Association.

After securing a fourth placed finish and a run to the top flight's promotion play-offs in May, the club's proud fans and officials have been celebrating winning their county FA's Chartered Standard Community Club of the Year accolade and seeing their Ladies youth section collect a fair play award.

The Towners, who were honoured at the Middlesex FA’s annual presentation evening, collected the club's off-field accolade for their work supporting local community and access programmes to develop the club and individuals.

A Towners spokesman said: “This is of course a great achievement as a club and it is the second time we have been so honoured. As the first supporter-owned club in the United Kingdom, our members and our community have remained at the heart of all that we do – as an inclusive club for all, which is something we are very proud of.

“The Enfield Town Ladies youth section won the Middlesex FA fair play award, which was collected by Claire Gooch, so congratulations are also in order for this great achievement. Well done ladies.”

* The Towners are increasing matchday ticket prices at the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium by £1 for the 2017-18 campaign to boost the playing budget of new joint managers Andy Leese and Darren Purse.
