Final managerial maestros named

By David Watters

Worthing double act Gary Elphick and Jon Meeney, Mark Stimson at Thurrock and South Park's Malcolm Porter are the Ryman League's final Macron and Nicholas Rowe Tailoring Managers of the Month of 2016.

Named on Saturday as December's winners of the monthly accolades in the Ryman Premier, Ryman North and Ryman South respectively, the trio are looking forward to being measured up for new suits by Nicholas Rowe Tailoring after being named as the Ryman League's final top bosses of the year.

For the third season running the quartet will be able to choose from three colours and a range of designs at the long-established Surrey-based tailors’ 7000 sq ft Suit City in Redhill as well as being presented with inscribed glass trophies to record their achievements from Macron, the joint sponsors of the monthly awards and the league's official kit suppliers.

While there's no restriction on the number of suits that can be won over the course of the campaign, Elphick and Meeney will need to win again with the monthly prize from Nicholas Rowe Tailoring restricted to one suit per winning club under the terms of a unique sponsorship deal in English football.

The Rebels duo head into 2017 chasing a play-off spot after a December climbing the table on the back of four wins and a draw. They also knocked out Burgess Hill Town in the third round of the Alan Turvey Trophy sponsored by Robert Dyas but they saved their best for a 2-1 victory at National League Dagenham & Redbridge in the first round proper of the Buildbase FA Trophy, a result that also won them December's Performance of the Month accolade in the Ryman Premier.

South Park and manager Porter have also doubled in the Ryman's monthly awards after winning Macron's Performance Award for December with another impressive win in the Buildbase FA Trophy, a 3-1 victory at Southern League North Leigh in a first round replay. In the league, Porter guided his side to three wins on the spin, the Sparks scoring 13 goals along the way.

Stimson and his Thurrock side are second in the table in Ryman North after hitting their rivals for six in December, the Fleet winning all six of their league outings. After starting off with a gentle 1-0 win at Ware, Thurrock went on to bag 12 goals in five games.
