Guernsey FC announce plans to build a new home

The Green Lions have announced that they hope to leave Footes Lane and, along with the Guernsey Football Association, create a purpose built football venue at Victoria Avenue.

A planning application has been made to the States of Guernsey Environment Department for the construction of a community football facility, which would be used by the GFA and for all of Guernsey FC’s home matches. Its 3G surface would be available for use by the community all year round, and would be ready in time for Guernsey to host the Island Games in 2021.

If the planning application is successful, the project will be part funded by the English Football Association in the form of grants, and construction will start next year.

“GFC have made no secret of the fact that to be sustainable we need our own home to generate the income required to participate in the FA National League Pyramid. Over the last 7 years we have used Footes Lane Stadium on match days, however we have been restricted in our capacity to drive additional income opportunities at this ground, owing to situations beyond our control.  “We are delighted to be working alongside the GFA to present a bright future for football on the island as well as creating a brand-new community hub.”
