No longer a Hawk! Read becomes an Angel

Striker Alex moves to Longmead

Just this morning Harlow Town announced that long serving striker Alex Read had decided to leave the club. This evening it was confirmed that although he's no longer a Hawk, he'll still have wings- although now he'll have to wear them with a Halo!

Tonbridge Angels have confirmed that Read, who scored an incredible 178 goals in 278 appearances during his five years with Harlow, will be joining the Longmead club for the forthcoming season.

Speaking to the Harlow Town website, Read stated:

"Saying goodbye is never easy and after 5 years I've made the rather emotional decision to leave Harlow Town FC. The club has been a massive part of my life for 5 years. There have been some glorious highs that have majorly outweighed the lows and I've been blown away over the years by the support I've recieved and friendships I've made throughout my time at the club. I've developed as a person and a player and there is no doubt I will miss everything about the place."

Angels manager Steve McKimm said:

“Alex is a player I have admired for a number of seasons now and his goalscoring record speaks for itself. I’m thrilled that he has decided to join us to become an important component of the squad for 2018/19.”
