Rams star heads to the Premier League

We thought he might be a Seagull, but instead he's an Eagle!

Following a trial with Brighton and Hove Albion last month, it was expected that Ramsgate centre-back Jacob Mensah was likely to head to the Amex. Instead, however, it was today announced that he was to head to the other end of the A23, as he signed instead for Brighton's bitter rivals Crystal Palace!

Mensah, 18, made twenty four starts for the Rams last season and has made another thirty one appearances this season, most recently in the 2-2 draw with runaway Bostik South East leaders Cray Wanderers last month.

Ramsgate have confirmed that they will not be benefiting financially from the deal, however Palace will bring a strong under 23 squad, likely to include Jacob, to the Kent coast for a pre-season game.
