Burgess Hill Town announced late last night that caretaker manager Simon Wormull and caretaker assistant- and General Manager- John Rattle would be caretakers no longer. Although Chairman Kevin Newell has been wading through a considerable pile of applications in order to make the right decision, this has led him to the conclusion that he couldn’t do better than the two men currently occupying the dugout.
A formal statement from the club is expected this morning.
Very few Hillians fans will be surprised at this announcement. Since former manager Ian Chapman went on gardening leave before finally having his resignation accepted, former Crawley Town midfielder- and Lewes manager- Wormull, ably assisted by dedicated club stalwart Rattle, has steered the side to victory over Tooting & Mitcham United, Margate and Haringey Borough, as well as to draws with Bishop’s Storford, Dorking Wanderers and Worthing.
Tomorrow they will face Kingstonian at the Green Elephants Stadium.
