Samba Sports Golden Gloves Awards- April 2019

By Ian Townsend

Who had the meanest defence in April? Read on to find out!

Samba Sports are the UK's leading manufacturer of goals- and you can visit their website here. What you'll find, however, is that they are about much more than just the provision of goals! From balls to gloves, from corner flags to water bottles, from coaching aids to captains armbands, if you need it for your club the chances are that Samba will have it (note: they can't supply you with a free-scoring centre forward). They can ever provide you with new dugouts if the old ones are letting in the rain!

Thanks to Samba for their support- and here are our April winners:

Premier Division

We’ve just given Dorking Wanderers manager Marc White our Manager of the Month prize, so it’s no surprise that the Golden Gloves Award goes to his keeper and miserly backline, given they conceded not one solitary goal during April. Congrats to the magnificent Slavomir Huk, and all those who stand in front of him!

North Division

Again, manager Danny Dafter isn’t the only award winner at Aveley for April. The Millers delivered five straight victories, scoring sixteen goals and conceding two. Lamar Joseph-Johnson was between the sticks for four of those five matches, so we assume he will pick up the award, but we’ll leave that for the fine folk of Parkside to decide. Congratulations once more.

South Central Division

Once more we head back to Cheshunt. Craig Edwards men won four of their five matches, drawing the other, conceding three goals whilst scoring sixteen. The winner of our Golden Gloves Award is most definitely Harry Girling, who was ever-present as the Ambers stormed to third place in the table.

South East Division

Only one of our Golden Gloves winning clubs didn’t pick up a manager of the month prize too, and if you’ve read this far then you’ll have worked out that the club in question must be in the South East Division.

Whyteleafe keeper Tyler McCarthy picks up our final prize of the season. Congrats go to him, and all who play just in front of him!
