Supreme Engraving Awards UK- Performance of the Month Award, November 2018

By Ian Townsend

November was full of thrills and spills, giantkilling and surprises. But who won our awards for outstanding performance?

Our winners of the Supreme Engraving Performance of the Month Award for November are as follows:

Premier Division: Wingate and Finchley travelled to Chippenham Town, riding high in National League South, and came home with a second bite of the cherry after a 1-1 FA Trophy draw. They then went one better, coming back from behind to defeat the higher ranked outfit 3-2 at the Maurice Rebak Stadium, despite falling behind early on. Congratulations to all at Summers Lane.

North Division: Bowers and Pitsea had won five games in a row, and were flying high in the North Division- but that run came to a shuddering end when they visited the Brentwood Arena. Brentwood Town proved that they weren’t interested in reputations, slamming three goals past the best defence in the division to record a magnificent victory. James Pellin, Ryan Mallett and Charlee Hughes- who seems to have been scoring for fun of late- got the goals. Congratulations to Craig Shipman and his Blue Army.

South Central Division: Perhaps we should just rename this the Hayes & Yeading United Trophy, given they won it last month, too! On this occasion the accolade comes for their FA Trophy victory at Premier Division Brightlingsea Regent. A 0-0 draw at the Skyex had surely made the higher placed side the favourites, but United travelled to Essex and, despite falling behind in the first half, turned the match on its head with goals from Hassan Jalloh and Toby Little, going through to the First Round Proper with a 2-1 victory.

South East Division: Another moment where we’re experiencing déjà vu, as we’re back at Culver Road to congratulate Horsham on winning yet another gong. It actually turned out that the Hornets were competing with themselves for this award, as they had two of the three nominations. In the end we decided to give them the prize for disposing of yet another Premier Division club- this time Potters Bar Town- in the FA Trophy, but they could just as well have taken it for their 4-0 demolition of VCD Athletic, given their opponents arrived at Culver Road on the back of two thumping victories of their own.
