The FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round kicked off on Friday, with Kingstonian defeating Shoreham by the odd goal in five, but the bulk of the matches were played yesterday and the stand out performance belongs to Heybridge Swifts. Not content with having a one hundred per cent record in the League, they travelled to Arlesey and thumped seven goals without reply, six different players finding their way onto the scoresheet.
Horsham and Leatherhead weren't far behind, both sides hitting an impressive six goals and they defeated Ashford United and Cray Valley PM respectively. Chike Kandi got a hat trick for the Tanners.
Five goals were hammered home by Billericay Town in their demolition of Didcot Town- Jake Robinson with three- and Carshalton Athletic also got five, including a hat trick from Mickel Miller, whilst conceding three at home to SCFL Pagham. Barking scored four without reply at Gorleston.
Five goals were shared in a number of ties featuring our clubs. On the Kent coast an enthralling match was finally won in the fifth minute of added time, as Folkestone Invicta came from behind to beat a nine man (one red card, one late injury) Greenwich Borough- details here; whilst at Westhumble Dorking Wanderers defeated Worthing 3-2 in the company of the Back of the Net team- look out for their highlights later. Brightlingsea Regent also featured in a match that had five goals, but sadly were on the wrong end of four of them as they departed the competition at Hanwell Town.
One of the surprises of the day came at Faversham Town, where Tonbridge Angels departed the competition on the end of a 3-1 defeat, and at Champion Hill Nana Boakye-Yiadom scored three as Dulwich Hamlet knocked out Hastings United. United were leading one-nil with eleven minutes to go before Nana turned the tables.
All of the results can be found here- -and there are more matches today, as Chipstead travel to Littlehampton Town and Romford entertain AFC Hornchurch.
In yesterdays League action Hythe Town hammered Guernsey 5-1, whilst Sittingbourne moved up to second place with victory over Whyteleafe. Finally, Canvey Island fell to a 1-0 home defeat to Brentwood Town in the Velocity Trophy.
