Fans can pay what they want to see crunch clash

After taking a giant step towards safety with a 3-0 win at Margate last weekend, VCD Athletic's officials are hoping a bumper crowd will cheer Tony Russell's side over the line this Saturday when they host Billericay Town on the final day of the Ryman Premier campaign.

The Vickers, promoted into the top flight last season as Ryman North champions, head into Saturday's clash at Oakwood just two points and two places above the drop zone as one of four sides in danger on 50 points.

To ensure a big gate gets behind the club's bid to record a sixth win on the spin that will guarantee survival and also as a thank you to their loyal support, Vickers officials announced on Wednesday that fans of both sides will be able to 'pay what they want' at the turnstiles.

A Vickers spokesman said: "The idea was thought up by our chairman Gary Rump who wants as many people as possible at Oakwood to cheer the team on in the last game of the season. We want to get behind the team on a tense final day and want as people as possible to get a bumper crowd."
