Fans warned to avoid motorway chaos

By David Watters

Fans, players and officials heading into Kent on the opening day of the new Ryman League season are advised to check their travel plans after the disruption of Eurotunnel services overnight and huge traffic jams building on major roads to the ports.

Services were temporarily suspended following “intense migrant activity” which disrupted trains from France while Operation Stack, pictured, has again shut the M20 between junctions eight and 11 for stationary lorries.

The police operation to cope with the ongoing travel chaos caused by the migrant crisis is expected to remain in place until Sunday at the earliest on one of the busiest weekends of the year for holidaymakers heading to the continent.

Fans making their way to Folkestone Invicta's Fullicks Stadium are likely to be the worst effected with the club hosting Molesey in Ryman South in a 3pm kick-off.

Other fixtures taking place in Kent include Herne Bay versus Sittingbourne and Faversham at home to Whyteleafe.
