Bostik Predictions- The Final Outcome: North Division

By Ian Townsend

Supporter representatives from each club have predicted the outcome of the North Division. So who do they think will win?

As you will hopefully have noticed, during the last month we’ve been publishing supporter previews of the forthcoming season. Every preview has included a predicted top five- but we haven’t only been asking the supporters involved to predict who will win the title and finish in the playoff positions, we’ve been asking them to forecast the entire division. The results of those predictions has been worked into a league table- so eyes down, look in, and here are the results of the North Division jury!

There appear to be no bookmakers odds to use in comparison, but our Bostik North experts are quite clear. Heybridge Swifts will win the title! They will be closely followed in second place by Canvey Island, whilst the playoff places will be completed by Bowers & Pitsea, Maldon & Tiptree and Aveley.

A third of our supporters predicted that Swifts would be champions. Another third were sure it would be Canvey, but Jody Brown’s boys crept over the line helped by the fact that only one respondent put them outside of the top three. Only Bowers and The Jammers apart from these two were considered potential champions.

In the battle of the new boys you felt that Coggeshall Town would come out on top, finishing in eighth place, whilst their rivals Felixstowe & Walton United sit in twelfth. You were far more worried about the fortunes of Basildon United and Great Wakering Rovers, placing them in 18th and 20th positions- separated only by Romford who, despite their great escape last season, you consider certainties to go down. Indeed you were so sure that these three would be involved in the relegation dogfight that nobody else was seriously considered as a contender for the booby prize.

Thanks again to all those supporters who took part in the predictions this year. Approximately 70% of our clubs were represented, which is superb, and a substantial increase on last year. But remember, this is just for fun. Please don’t hold grudges against those who felt your side would struggle, and please don’t go out and bet your house on any of the predicted outcomes actually coming true!
