Bostik Supporters Predictions 18/19: Bracknell Town

Darrell Freeland takes us on a tour of the Robins nest.

We asked supporters of our Bostik League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Darrell Freeland, Bracknell Town supporter and one of the mainstays of the website Football in Bracknell guides us through the world of the Robins, and introduces us to Brimscombe & Thrupp.

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

Darrell looking dapper!

Darrell looking dapper!

Coleshill Town 2-4 Bracknell Town AET - FA Vase L16 match that we should have won comfortably in ninety minutes but needed extra time to win, was a great relief and extremely proud to get through to the quarter finals.

2. And your worst moment?

Bracknell Town 0-3 Marske United - FA Vase quarter final where we totally underperformed. Felt like a lost chance to make the semi-finals.

3. How will you do this season?

I'm thinking top ten, maybe as high as sixth place. Impressed with Bracknell's transfer activity so far this summer.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

The two closest teams are Egham Town and Marlow and it's a chance to renew old rivalries again. With us being an old Isthmian League side i have visited most grounds but four elude me - Cheshunt, Hayes & Yeading, South Park and Waltham Abbey so I am keen to get to those.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

Brimscombe & Thrupp in Gloucestershire near Stroud. An amazingly friendly club and the ground is picturesque with the pitch sat down below stand height.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

Ascot United, Binfield and Wokingham & Emmbrook historically but now we are back at step 4 would probably say Egham Town and Marlow.

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

With a 3G pitch the game is almost certainly going to be on so if travelling by train then book your ticket early. The Old Manor pub (Wetherspoons) is the closest pub and a 17th century building rumoured to have hidden Dick Turpin in one of its cubby holes so well worth a visit. You'll get a friendly welcome at the club too with a revamped bar and diner.

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

I have three that I cannot pick between:

Dave Osgood (nephew of Peter Osgood) and formerly of Aldershot Town was a hard-as-nails player who could play anywhere on pitch centrally. Looked after the younger players and scored some crucial goals.

Mark 'Frilly' Franks was a real livewire winger who also had a spell at Woking. He used to glide past defenders as if they were not there, very skillful.

Lastly but no means least is Peter Skerritt who was a tall centre-half who won every aerial dual and could often be seen striding out of defence with the ball A real gentleman too.

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?

Hayes & Yeading Utd, Tooting & Mitcham Utd, Chalfont St Peter, Uxbridge, Westfield

Where next?

Bostik Supporters Predictions 18/19: Felixstowe and Walton United Barry Grossmith takes us on a trip to the seaside, and hopes that we keep his words a secret from the people of Coggeshall.
