Bostik Supporters Predictions 18/19: Wingate & Finchley

We head to Wingate & Finchley, for the views of flag aficionado Colin Foster

We asked supporters of our Bostik League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

We take a trip to Summers Lane, where Wingate & Finchley fan Colin Foster models a fine selection of flags whilst previewing the new season.

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

Colin of Wingate and Finchley

Colin of Wingate and Finchley

Some great performances in FA Trophy. 5-0 win away to Biggleswade and then pushing Conference South Wealdstone all the way in 1st round Proper.

2. And your worst moment?

Not being able to match the previous seasons mark of getting into the playoffs. Season started off well but then we dropped away during the last couple of months.

3. How will you do this season?

We have made some promising signings so I would like to think we would compete and at least get a play-off berth.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

I’m most looking forward to seeing some new grounds. There are 4 grounds I haven't visited before, and the fixture list has been friendly enough to get all of these covered by October. They are Whitehawk, Brightlingsea, Dorking and Bishops Stortford.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

From the league this season, I would say Lewes. It’s an iconic ground with some interesting features. Memories of going there a few seasons ago on Non-League day and all wearing Sid James masks and being the 'Sid Army' for the day. We even made it on to Sky Sports.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

Based on locality it has to be Enfield and promoted Potters Bar. Enfield games are normally interesting affairs, although now I've said that it will be probably be a boring nil-nil.

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Bring a camera so you can take pictures of our iconic stand and our ironic flags. Our facilities have been upgraded during the close season so come early and watch the televised football with a pint before the game.

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?
Rob Laney. He always give 100%, runs after every ball and doesn't give up until the final whistle. Always very welcoming and friendly to fans in the bar before and after the game.

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?
Bognor Regis Town, Margate, Wingate & Finchley, Leatherhead, Folkestone Invicta
