Bostik Supporters Preview 17/18: Dereham Town

In our final set of supporters predictions before we produce the supporters predicted league tables, here is David Logan for the Magpies.

We asked a supporter from each of our member clubs to answer the same series of questions as part of our preview of the new season. We also asked them to predict how their particular division would finish, from one to 24- and their answers will be revealed in a collection of Supporters Prediction Tables to be released the day before the big kick off.

Here are the answers of David Logan representing Dereham Town.

What was your favourite moment of last season?

The 3-2 away victory at Brightlingsea on Boxing Day. Brightlingsea went on to be promoted, so a cracking result for the team.

And your worst moment?

It still hurts today and that was the defeat to Norwich United in the Senior Cup, losing at home 2-4 after extra time, having beaten them in the final the previous season 2-0.

How will you do this season?

I really am optimistic this season. It is a big loss with Matt Henman standing down as manager, but in Neal Simmons we have an accomplished coach and manager, who has made some decent signings in the closed season which I feel can have Dereham knocking on the door of a play-off place.

Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

Obviously, the local derby with Norwich United tops the list of most anticipated as I feel some pay back is due following their Senior Cup win over us last year, but looking forward also to seeing how we fare against the newbies, Mildenhall, Potters Bar Town, Canvey Island, Barking, Hertford and Grays Athletic.

What is your favourite away ground?

AFC Sudbury is probably my favourite away venue as they have a great set-up with the their 3G pitch and other facilities, but also they are always very welcoming fans both at home and away.

Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

Not surprisingly, Norwich United. It may not have the history of an Ipswich/Norwich Derby, but the rivalry is just as intense from where I stand. This season we will finish above them in the league.

What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Enjoy. The hospitality they will receive will be second to none. They are sure to get a very warm welcome, coupled with a very knowledgeable and ardent fan base who love their football, win or lose.

Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

This is a difficult one to answer as there has been so many good players, but my favourite is a more recent acquisition, joining us from Wroxham last season and that is David Hinton. I loved to watch his commanding of the midfield when he was in opposition to us in previous seasons, so when he joined us, I was delighted. David is a natural leader, with a engine the size of a jumbo jet, he has a great sense of awareness, key for central midfield and has gelled well with the rest of the team. This will be his season, I'm sure.

9. Finally, predict who will fill the top five positions at the end of the forthcoming season:

AFC Sudbury, Grays Athletic, Maldon & Tiptree, Bowers & Pitsea, Cheshunt.
