Double up leaves stattos scratching

Ryman League

Striker Ade Yusuff has left statisticians scratching their heads after featuring for two different Ryman League clubs on the same weekend.

Unless someone can prove otherwise, the 19-year-old centre forward, pictured, could soon be the subject of pub quiz question after coming on as second half substitute for AFC Hornchurch in their 3-0 defeat at Lowestoft Town last Saturday before starting for Aveley the following day in a 2-1 Ryman North victory for the Millers at Erith & Belvedere.

Yusuff, who made his Urchins debut as a half-time substitute on the opening day of the season, can thank the secretaries at the two clubs for working together to turn around his paperwork in time to enable him to play.

Signed by the Urchins after impressing in pre-season, Yusuff was at Stevenage before a brief spell with Banbury United last season and a longer one with St Neots Town.

Before being allowed to leave by Urchins manager Jim McFarlane to get more match practice, he'd made four starts and 11 sub appearances. Coming off the bench, he scored three goals including an injury-time winner at Margate in the second game of the season and an equally late equaliser against Wealdstone in September.
