Safe Hands Awards- sponsored by Sells Goalkeeping Products- January 2018

By Ian Townsend

One more month, three new stoppers honoured!

Who'd be a goalkeeper, eh? All that diving around in the mud, and surely January must be the worst month for it? Well January's winners of the Safe Hands Awards- sponsored by Sells Goalkeeping Products- made goalkeeping look easy despite the worst that the weather (and the opposition) could throw at them!

Our Premier Division winner was a boy in blue- Metropolitan Police keeper Thomas Williams. During seven matches in January- six in the league, one in the Velocity Trophy- Thomas conceded only five goals, whilst his side won four and drew two of their fixtures.

The North Division award heads to Norfolk, and will be presented to a Magpie. Dereham Town keeper Elliot Pride conceded only two goals in five matches- including three clean sheets- as his side consolidated their position in the play-off places.

Finally, the South Division Award heads to the Royal Borough of Greenwich, to be cleanly caught by Cannons stopper George Kamurasi. George managed a clean sheet against England's highest scoring side, Cray Wanderers, and although he conceded two at Hastings his teammates were scoring five of their own. He then kept out Herne Bay as Borough won once more.

Congratulations to all of our January winners!
