Here's what happened in the friendly matches we know about!
Many of our teams started their pre-season friendly schedules over the weekend (a number of them rather early in the morning to avoid the heat/England v Sweden). It’s difficult to get a great deal of detail given the number of trialists and the lack of reports, but here’s what we have!
Ashford United went down 5-1 against National League (and FA Trophy finalists) Bromley, with Dean Grant scoring for the Nuts and Bolts.
Brentwood Town hosted National League South Concord Rangers, now led by former Leatherhead management duo Sammy Moore and Jack Midson. Moore found the net in a 4-0 away win.
Barking travelled to Burnham Ramblers and played out a 3-3 draw, and according to their Twitter feed the team looked like this: 1. A. Footballer, 2. B. Footballer, 3. C. Footballer, 4. D. Footballer, 5. E. Footballer. 6. F. Footballer, 7. G. Footballer, 8. H. Footballer, 9. It’s Coming Home, 10. J. Footballer, 11. K. Footballer. They had three substitutes, each one a lion!
Cheshunt went down 3-1 at home to National League South Chelmsford City. The Ambers took an early lead – we’ve no idea of the scorer- before the Clarets roared back to score three before half time.
Chipstead entertained neighbours Croydon, and the Trams were mere passengers as the Chips scored four without reply- Joe Jackson steppin’ out with the first, Nathan Ayling with the next, Ollie Thornton and Sam Clayton with the other two.
East Grinstead Town and Burgess Hill Town played out an entertaining 1-1 draw, Michael Wilson scoring for the Wasps, Connor Tighe for the Hillians.
Folkestone Invicta hosted Gillingham, and Ade Yusuff gave the home side the lead before Connor Wilkinson equalised for the Gills.
Waltham Abbey earned a 4-1 win at Frenfield Senior (not 1-1 as reported by the Non League Paper). We know that Charlie Stimson got a goal, we’ve no idea who got the others1
Harlow Town went down 7-0 at home to Leyton Orient.
Hastings United took on their own Under 23 side and won 5-1.
Witham Town went to Haverhill and scored seven times, conceding only once. Goals apparently from Max Wilson (2)/Ryan Imbert (1)/ Luke Mallett (1)/Mo Salahs cousin(2)/Mo Salahs cousins mate (1), according to Mark on Facebook. James Beardwell lost his voice (not really, you could probably hear him from space!).
Maldon and Tiptree went down 4-1 at home to Colchester United, Sam Warde scoring for the Jammers.
Molesey went down 1-0 at home to Three Bridges, we’ve no idea of the scorer.
Marlow travelled to Sandhurst Town and went down 2-1. Charlie Oakley and Ashley ledger scored for Town, we’ve no idea who got the Marlow consolation.
Tooting & Mitcham United travelled to Wheatsheaf Park to take on Staines Town. Elan Assiana put the home side ahead, Dan Clements equalised for the Terrors.
Tonbridge Angels hosted Whyteleafe, and it was the away side who emerged victorious, winning 2-0 with goals from Ashley Robinson & Lauris Chin.
Wingate and Finchley went down 3-2 at home to Beaconsfield Town. Monsheju and Manu scored for the home side.
Finally, on Sunday Worthing hosted South Park, and won 2-1. We’ve no idea of the scorers.
