Weekend transfer round up

By Ian Townsend

New signings for East Grinstead, Heybridge Swifts and Kingstonian

The weekend saw a new Wasp, a new Swift and a new signing for the K's- but each of the players joining the squads at East Court, Scraley Road and Fetcham Grove will be familiar to the supporters, as they are all returning former players.

East Grinstead Town have signed Hythe Town full back Callum Emptage. Callum, who came through the youth ranks at Gillingham before joining the Wasps, and later also played for Hastings United, has had his career hampered by injury but at only 21 years old is highly regarded by East Grinstead manager Matt Longhurst, who believes that he is the 'best full back at this level.' Heybridge Swifts new signing left the club rather more recently, after playing a big part in their league and cup success during the last campaign- but Sam Bantick has now decided to return, after playing the second half of the season for Tonbridge Angels. He made 21 appearances at Longmead, scoring four goals, to add to the 28 he'd already made for Swifts (18 goals), so will undoubtedly be glad to get his future sorted out so that he can now have a well deserved rest!

Finally, Kingstonian have followed their signings of Louie Theophanous, Reece Williams-Bowers and Elliott Buchanan last week by snapping up centre-back Leo Chambers. Chambers played eleven times for K's last season, on loan from Billericay Town. He also turned out seventeen times for Harry Wheeler's Blues. For more on that story, click here.
