Former boss mourned by Dockers

The West Ham legend and Chelsea and Leyton Orient winger, pictured, passed away on Saturday aged 79 after a short illness.

The 1964 FA Cup winner and England international developed a long and strong association with the Dockers after his Football League career was over. After originally arriving at Chadfields as a coach, he took over as manager for the start of the 1986-87 season, a post he held until January 1989 when he left to join Billericay Town after winning 56 of his 145 games at the helm.

The Dockers paid tribute to their late manager, who later returned to the club on an informal basis to carry on coaching, in a statement on their website.

A spokesman said: "Tilbury Football Club are saddened to report the death of our former manager and coach Peter Brabrook. Peter was a very popular man here at Tilbury and very well liked, and had a very good relationship with our former chairman Robin Nash. All connected with the club send their deepest condolences to his family and best wishes for the future."
