Forters chairman steps down

Hythe Town Chairman John Dowsett stood down on Friday for ‘personal and family reasons’.

Long-time supporter Dowsett, pictured, replaced Paul Markland at the Reachfields Stadium in July as the Forters prepared for the start of the Ryman South campaign. He had been building on one of the most successful periods in the club's history after Markland’s 12 year tenure ended in May.

A Hythe Town spokesman said: "It is with regret that the board of Hythe Town Football Club have accepted the resignation of John Dowsett as Chairman of the club. John has left for personal and family reasons and will always be welcome at Reachfields. The board would like to thank him for his time at the club and wish him and his family all the best for the future."
