Gabriel is Borough's angel as they remain unbeaten!

By Ian Townsend

The last unbeaten record in the Bostik League came under threat last night- but Borough imitate Lazarus!

After AFC Hornchurch fell to defeat against Dereham Town on Tuesday night only one unbeaten record remained in the entire Bostik League- and with only three minutes to go last night it appeared that this record was about to go too. At Parkside a resurgent Grays Athletic led Haringey Borough by three goals to one, having been ahead since the 38th minute. Surely the three points were going to go to the home side?

Borough striker Ralston Gabriel had other ideas.

In the 87th minute he set up a nail biting end to the match, reducing the arears to a single goal. And then, just as home fans were biting their nails right down to the elbow, a ball into the box, a diving header, and a point for Borough. Gabriel had done it again- and bagged himself another hat trick in the process!

This result leaves Borough in fifth place in the North Division, five points behind leaders Dereham Town but with three games in hand. Athletic are up to twelfth.

Manager Tom Loizou (pictured with League Chair Nick Robinson) will be doubly pleased- he's an Arsenal fan, and will have left the field to the news that Spurs had lost. There's only one club on White Hart Lane!
