Ryman Premier Grays Athletic have handed German coach Rainer Hein the job of finding and developing their next generation of stars.

Hein, who joined Grays in 2014 and helped coach the U16s squad, has been appointed head of youth development at the Essex club.

Hein moved to England in 2004 after playing for clubs and German youth development teams, including Cologne's academy, from the age of four to 16. During his national service he also played and coached a German Air Force side.

As well as coaching a number of youth teams and various age groups at local schools and football academies since arriving, Hein has also worked at Corringham Athletic, Corringham Cosmos and Ryman North Tilbury.
