Goldberg denies Margate

MARGATE climbed three places to fourth in the Ryman Premier table with a 1-1 home draw with Hastings in the division’s only game yesterday (Saturday).

But they were left regretting a series of missed chances which cost them victory and left them still four points behind leaders Hampton, who have two games in hand.

Always on top, Margate went close in the first half when Alex Rhodes hit a post and took the lead four minutes after the break through Dan Stubbs. But they were unable to increase their advantage and paid the price when Brad Goldberg fired in a free-kick with eight minutes left.
