Greens take the lead- whilst Billericay set up a green-blue FA Cup extravaganza!

By Ian Townsend

Hendon are the new leaders of the Bostik Premier, Dereham Town move up to second in the North Division, and Swifts make it ten in two!

The travails of last season have been consigned firmly to the dustbin of history for Hendon, top of the Bostik Premier Division after a seventh home win of the season saw them maintain a 100% record at Silver Jubilee Park. Zak Joseph slotted home the all-important goal in the twenty fifth minute of their match against Needham Market, who sit in twentieth place in the table. It was Joseph's fifth goal of the season.

Dulwich Hamlet also took advantage of Billericay's absence on cup duties to go second, with a 4-0 walloping of Harlow Town. It's seven goals now for Nyren Clunis, who topped and tailed efforts from Michael Chambers and Reise Allassani to score a brace.

Previous league leaders Leiston fell to their first league defeat at Longmead, where Tonbridge Angels came from a goal behind to record a 2-1 victory, Alexander Akrofi and- of course- Nathan Elder with their goals. Angels move up to sixth, Leiston drop to third.

Fourth place Billericay Town have five games in hand on Hendon and Hamlet, but are only three points behind. Last night they secured an all-Bostik FA Cup First Round tie at Leatherhead, beating Brackley Town 2-1 in a replay. The Tanners were in league action, and suffered a cup hangover with a 3-0 defeat at Folkestone Invicta.

Our other replay last night saw Enfield Town host National League Maidstone United, and it was all square at 1-1 after 90 minutes only for the Stones to pull away in extra time, adding two goals to give their victory a margin it perhaps didn't deserve, whilst back in the league and back on the Kent coast Margate suffered a second home defeat in a few days, going down 2-0 to Merstham.

There were a number of games in the North Division, and Dereham Town moved up to second place with a 3-1 win over Mildenhall Town, whilst Heybridge Swifts added to the four goals they scored in the FA Cup at the weekend with six more at home to Hertford Town. Brentwood Town put four past Ware, Waltham Abbey defeated Cheshunt by the odd goal in five, and AFC Sudbury played out a draw with Aveley.

In the South Division East Grinstead Town moved off the bottom with a 2-0 win over Carshalton Athletic, whilst Shoreham replaced them there, falling 2-1 at Chipstead. Hastings United and Horsham shared six goals equally at Pilot Field, a late Alfie Paxman goal earned Ramsgate a share of the points as they hosted Walton Casuals, and Faversham Town earned a rare away victory with the solitary goal at Phoenix Sports.

In tonight's fixtures, Grays Athletic host Bowers & Pitsea at Parkside, whilst at the Dripping Pan table-toppers Lewes face Corinthian-Casuals. It was the away side that won a thrilling match between the sides towards the end of last season, but the Rooks look a tougher prospect this season. At Princes Park, Thamesmead Town host Herne Bay.
