Hawks hail milestone manager

Harlow Town have congratulated manager Danny Chapman after he took charge of his 300th competitive game guiding the Ryman Premier's Hawks.

Officials at the Harlow Arena reckon their former defender, pictured, is well on his way to becoming one of the club's legendary bosses after he celebrated reaching the milestone last weekend by guiding his side to a 1-0 home win over Staines Town.

In an article on the Hawks website listing his achievements, a spokesman said: "Everyone at the club would like to congratulate Danny on reaching this historic milestone."

Chapman joins a select group of only two other managers to have passed the milestone at the Essex club, Dave Edwards leading way on 477 games and Ian Wolstenholm on 317.

'Chappo', who made more than 200 appearances in the Hawks defence, took the reins in January 2011 when he stepped up from assistant manager to succeed Kevin Warren. Since taking the helm, he has led the Hawks to the Ryman North play-offs on three occasions, last season securing promotion back to the Ryman League's top flight as play-off winners.

Appointed in April 2015 as the club's director of football, Chapman boasts an impressive win ratio of 51.5 percent for his record of 155 wins, 56 draws and 90 defeats in the 301 games he's now been at the helm for. He takes charge of match number 302 at Kingstonian's Kingsmeadow on Saturday hoping to bounce back from a 3-1 reverse at Dulwich Hamlet in midweek.
