Hawks hit the heights, Blues held by Blues, whilst Green Elephants have a night they’d like to forget…

…whilst elsewhere, Brentwood get five and Heath march on. It’s our round up.

Our bottom three in the Premier Division were all in action last night- two of them against each other- and the big winners were Whitehawk, who demolished Sussex rivals Burgess Hill Town to move three points- and two places- ahead of them. Nat Pinney opened the scoring from the spot after a foul by Dan Beck on Yannis Ambroisine, and after twenty four minutes it was two, Pinney again finding the net. By half time it was game over and three-nil, Henry Muggeridge adding the third, and whilst the Hillians managed to draw the second half- Lucas Rodrigues making it four only for Dan beck to pull one back for the away side- as well as three points the Hawks also have the advantage of a goal difference ten better than their rivals.

That’s three wins, two draws and two defeats from their last seven matches for Whitehawk, which seems more like mid-table form than that of a relegation threatened side; whilst the Hillians now have one point from their last twenty one and will be desperate for something when they travel to Potters Bar Town on Saturday. Whitehawk have another one of those mythical six-pointers as they travel to face the other Hawks, Harlow Town, who are one point ahead of them but of course shipped nine goals at Worthing on Saturday.

Wingate and Finchley slipped into the bottom two after they were held at home by the ten men of Bishop’s Stortford. Luke Callander put the visitors ahead after only two minutes, but the match unravelled for them when Sam Robbins pulled back Rob Laney as he was through on goal, and received a red card for his trouble. At this point the home side were already level, Irnti Rapai putting away a rebound after his initial shot was saved by Arthur Janata, and soon they were ahead as Sean Cronin made no mistake from the spot after Robbins took the walk of shame.
The ten men rallied. Luke Callender got his second of the match five minutes before the break to draw Stortford level once more, and the visitors managed to hold on for the entire second half to leave with a point. Stortford finished the night in eleventh place, five points off the playoffs.

Many congratulations to Wingate & Finchley keeper Shane Gore on his 150th appearance for the Blues.

When previewing the North Division match between Brentwood Town and AFC Sudbury yesterday afternoon we suggested that neither were in good form although both had proved that they were capable of much better- so the outcome might be decided on which Brentwood and Sudbury turned up. Well the good Brentwood most definitely turned up, walloping home five goals at the Arena. Tony Stokes gave the home side an early lead, and it was doubled by Mitchel Hunter- but the latter was unfortunate enough to concede an own goal just before the break to give Sudbury hope. Kojo Apenteng attempted to extinguish that hope early in the second half to make it three-one, but again Sudbury narrowed the gap, Callum Harrison pulling it back to three-two. That sparked the Alfie Hilton show, two goals from the Town number ten making the game more than safe.

Sudbury are eighth, but now twelve points away from the playoff places. Town climb to fourteenth.

Finally, in the South East Division Haywards Heath Town went level on points with third place Ashford United and fourth place Horsham with victory over Faversham Town at Hanbury Park. They were made to work hard for the points, but a goal midway through the second half from Kieran Rowe gave them the lead, and right at the end Trevor McCreadie got the second to make the last few moments rather more comfortable for the home faithful. Faversham remain in fifteenth place.
