Manny Duku, who last season broke Hayes & Yeading United goalscoring records with 39 goals in all competitions, 32 in the League, last night signed for League Two Cheltenham Town.
The Dutch-born striker joined United from Southern Premier side Banbury United in the summer of 2017, having previously played for Chesham United and Kings Langley. In his single season at the SkyEx Community Stadium he flourished and developed into the most prolific striker in the Division. He also became a firm fan’s favourite for his goalscoring ability and his amiable nature.
Duku follows in the footsteps of Greenwich Borough striker Mohamed Eisa, who joined the Robins in July last year and went on to score 25 league goals. Indeed, it is being suggested by sources in the north-east of England and in Gloucestershire that Duku is being signed as Eisa's replacement, as the former Cannon is currently being linked with a move to Sunderland. It is understood that the Black Cats have offered just over one million pounds for Eisa, but may have to add another half a million to get their man.
