FA Trophy

Burgess Hill Town’s stunning performance at Aldershot in the FA Trophy's first round proper on Saturday has been hailed by Ryman League’s chairman and president Alan Turvey ahead of the draw for the competition's next round.

Ian Chapman’s Ryman South giant-killers won 1-0 to knock out the Conference Premier’s Shots, Dan Perry’s first half poacher’s goal ensuring their inclusion in Monday lunchtime's second round draw for the last 32 at Wembley as the Ryman League’s final flag-bearers.

The Isthmian League’s chairman was at The Rec to witness the Sussex club’s latest triumph and paid tribute on Sunday to the fans, players and officials at the Green Elephants Stadium.

He said: "What a fantastic result. I was proud to be there and witness a very deserved victory."

The Hillians have already flown the league’s flag as far as the FA Cup’s Fourth Qualifying Round this season and are continuing to make history as the only unbeaten side in the top eight levels of English football still to taste defeat.

Manager Chapman was also named as November’s Ryman South Nicholas Rowe Tailoring Manager of the Month at the start of December.
