Macron Performance of the Month Awards

Burgess Hill Town will collect a second successive Macron Performance of the Month accolade after being named on Thursday as one of November’s winning trio of clubs.

The Ryman South club were rewarded for their heroics in the FA Cup in October and have won November’s honour for an FA Trophy run that saw the Hillians overcome not one but three opponents in Southern League Chesham, rivals Folkestone Invicta after a replay and top flight Leatherhead last weekend in a 3-2 thriller at their Green Elephants Stadium.

The Hillians, whose manager Ian Chapman also won November’s Nicholas Rowe Tailoring Manager of the Month Award in Ryman South, were named alongside two new recipients of Macron’s monthly performance honours, Maidstone United in the Ryman Premier and AFC Sudbury in Ryman North.

Like the Hillians, David Batch’s Sudbury side were chosen by the competition’s judges for a run in the FA Trophy that saw them beat Ryman Premier Bognor Regis in a replay, Maidstone United away and then draw 1-1 at Southern League St Neots Town last weekend to win the accolade before finishing the job with a 1-0 win in their replay at the Kingsmarsh Stadium on Tuesday night.

As they prepare to travel to Wrexham in the FA Cup this weekend, few would deny Jay Saunders and his Maidstone United side the Ryman Premier’s Macron laurels for their heroic First Round performance, the 2-1 victory against League Two Stevenage Borough at the Gallagher Stadium in front of millions watching on television on Thursday 20 November.

Winning clubs are presented with a glass trophy marking the club's achievement at upcoming fixtures by representatives from the league and sponsors Macron after the competition's judges considered a shortlist of potential clashes and the form, context and circumstances behind the performances of the winning clubs.
