Hinshelwood promotes from within

New Hastings United manager Adam Hinshelwood has named Chris Agutter as his number two for the 2017-18 Ryman League season.

Already the head of coaching and recruitment at the Sussex club's academy, Agutter will combine the role with assisting Hinshelwood who left his post as assistant coach of Brighton & Hove Albion's U18s to succeed Darren Hare after he stood down within a few weeks of missing out on promotion via the Ryman South promotion play-offs.

Newly promoted Premier League club Brighton also features on the CV of UEFA A coach Agutter who's also worked at Eastbourne Borough and stepped up at The Pilot Field with immediate effect after being chosen by former Worthing boss Hinshelwood, pictured.

Agutter said: "I am looking forward to working alongside Adam and with the first team squad. Having been with the club for six months working in the academy I can see the huge potential that the club has and I am delighted to be part of it moving forward.

"As well as assisting Adam with first team matters I will be looking to help facilitate pathways into the first team environment for some of our talented young players."

Former defender Hinshelwood made more than 100 league appearances for Brighton and returned to the club in the summer of 2015 from Worthing and an earlier spell managing Selsey after a knee injury forced him to retire from the professional game as a player in 2010.

His predecessor guided the Arrows to a fifth placed finish in Ryman South after taking the helm last year. Edged out on penalties by Dorking Wanderers in the play-off semi-finals, Hare's side were the highest scorers in the top eight tiers of English football last season with 128 league goals and 150 in all competitions.
