Pictured alongside Hastings United Football Club Academy director Dean White, the 25-year-old central defender has been an ever-present for the Cherries in the top flight this season after being born locally and going to school near the Pilot Field.
The Cherries star said: “I am proud to be involved in the academy at Hastings United. The work that is being carried out in the community to try and give young footballers a pathway through sport and education is fantastic.
“I have known [United academy director] Dean White for a long time. He was assistant first team manager when I was coming through the ranks at Brighton and gave me my senior debut against Manchester City.
“I have no doubt that with his direction and along with his team of coaches they will create an environment that will enable talented young local footballers to flourish.”
Before last weekend's action, Cook had made more clearances and more headed clearances than any other player in the Premier League this season as well chipping in with four goals.
White was delighted with the academy's star signing which comes after nine youngsters stepped up to play for Darren Hare's seniors at the Ryman South club this season.
He said: “Having Steve on board in an ambassadorial role is brilliant. As well as wanting to raise our profile, he is passionate about local football and is keen to help us make a difference in Hastings for the benefit of everyone moving forward.”
