Hot-shot Hope breaks all-time record

Enfield Town

Striker Liam Hope became Enfield Town's all-time leading scorer when he helped stun Ryman League leaders Margate with his side's third goal during Tuesday night's 3-1 win.

When Hope, pictured, scored with six minutes to go of the Ryman Premier clash at the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium he overtook Rudi Hall to become Town's all-time hot-shot with 107 goals. Hall's previous record of 106 included 56 penalties and spanned 351 games from midfield before his retirement from the game in 2012 after moving into coaching during his final season.

Hope, who joined the Towners nearly five years ago in November 2009 from EVO-STIK League Southern Didcot Town, having previously represented North Leigh, took 230 games, the vast majority as a striker, with 34 penalties among his record-breaking haul. At the end of the 2011-12 campaign, the forward collected the Ryman North Golden Boot award.
