Hot-shot Zanone returns to Ryman

By David Watters

Striker Stuart Zanone is back in the Ryman League with Cheshunt after signing from Southern Counties East League Premier Division side Sevenoaks Town.

The Harlow-based hot-shot, who started his career as youth team goalkeeper at Ipswich Town, made two appearances for Hythe earlier in the season after signing from Southern Counties East Football League outfit Ashford United before dropping back down again to turn out for Greenwich Borough and then Sevenoaks.

Zanone failed to find the net for the Cannons but the 30-year-old goal-machine scored a record-breaking 47 goals last season for Ashford United, the former Rochester United and Thamesmead Town forward firing them to the runners-up spot in the SCEFL behind champions Phoenix Sports.

Ambers manager Paul Wickenden has also signed another striker to boost his attacking options at Theobalds Lane, former Tottenham Hotspur, Norwich City and Falkirk star Olu Durojaiye following his switch from Ryman Premier neighbours Enfield Town.
