Hotshot Bay striker gets his dream move

Embery to head to the National League

In an emotional statement, South East Division Herne Bay have confirmed that striking sensation Jake Embery is to leave the club to join National League strugglers Maidstone United.

It was undoubtedly expected that Embery would attract attention from higher level clubs. With twenty one goals in thirty matches this season he has the kind of scoring record that any striker would be proud of. He also has three hat tricks- starting with three goals at Arundel in the FA Cup he then went on to score four in victory at Ramsgate, and another four in a win at Greenwich Borough. These add to the twenty three he managed last season- and the five he scored for Sittingbourne the year before.

Bay explained:

'The Club have been advised that Jake will be signing for Maidstone United tomorrow.

The Club are not at all happy about this but Jake’s agent has done a deal with Maidstone United and we have been left we no choice.

We were asked by Jake to cancel his contract and he would be prepared to play for nothing.

He signed non-contract forms with Herne Bay and we were fully expecting him to play against Whitstable on Saturday.

Very disappointing but these things happen in football.

Jake has proved his goal scoring ability and has put in a great shift for the club in the time he has been with us and we wish him the best of luck in his full time in football.'
