Jammers forced to start again after Watson's exit

Maldon & Tiptree are on the lookout to appoint their second manager in as many weeks after announcing that Kevin Watson had left the Ryman North club on Thursday to become Teddy Sheringham's number two at Stevenage.

The 41-year-old former Tottenham Hotspur, Colchester United and Reading midfielder only took charge at the Jammers last week following the departure of Alan Kimble.

Officials confirmed Watson's surprise exit from the Wallace Binder Ground in a brief statement on the club's official website and said they would be making a further announcement on their now vacant managerial position in due course.

Colchester United legend Watson kicked off his career as a trainee at Spurs before making five appearances for them in the 1990s. As well as his 135 appearances between 2004 and 2008 for Colchester, he also turned out for Rotherham United, Swindon Town and Luton Town and has been a regular touchline pundit on Sky Sports' Gillette Soccer Saturday, pictured.

Former England striker Sheringham, 49, took on his first manager's post last week when he succeeded Graham Westley at League Two Stevenage.
