The centre-half is pictured signing until the end of next season for Wilkins at Victory Road on Tuesday. Since arriving from Lowestoft Town nearly four years ago, the defender has become a key member of the Blues squad, captaining the club on many occasions and winning numerous awards.
Wilkins, whose second placed side were away at Wingate & Finchley on Tuesday night, told the Blues website: "Joe has been a great servant to the club and has consistently played to a high level. It didn't take long to agree an extension to his current deal as he wants to play for Leiston.
"Its good business all round and there will be more contractural talks with other players in the coming months."
Jefford, who played for Kirkley & Pakefield and Norwich United before joining the Trawlerboys, said: "I'm delighted to extend my time at Leiston. I am excited to be part of this group of players, the spirit is better than ever and I think we have a real shot of challenging and finishing at least, in a play-off position.
"It's also great to be working with and playing for the manager. I feel I get on well with him on a personal and professional level and he can only continue to make a better footballer."
