League statement: Farnborough

Farnborough’s first four games of the season have been postponed by a decision of The Football Association after they lodged an appeal to The FA over a League decision to require the club to pay a £30,000 bond to the League.

The League confirms that Farnborough’s opening day trip in the Ryman Premier on Saturday to VCD Athletic, their home games against Harrow Borough on Monday 10 August and Wingate & Finchley on Saturday 15 August and a Robert Dyas League Cup tie at Cherrywood Road against Lewes on Monday 17 August have been postponed.

The Ryman League took the decision to make an application to suspend the fixtures in the interests of other member clubs.

The FA, the Ryman League and the club have agreed that the situation should be resolved as quickly as possible with the appeal set to be heard in the week commencing August 17.

Ryman League chairman Nick Robinson said: “The initial decision of the Board was that no matches would be played unless the bond was paid in by 10am on Thursday morning.

“The appeal only went in on Tuesday night, but, collectively, the Board still felt it sensible to request to the Appeal Board that Farnborough’s matches be suspended until it was all resolved."
