Macron Performance of the Month Awards

Cray Wanderers, Heybridge Swifts and Whitstable Town have been unveiled as the latest Macron Performance of the Month Award winners.

The trio were named on Tuesday as November’s winners of the competition to recognise and reward the top monthly performances in all three of the Ryman League’s divisions. Each club is now looking forward to being presented with a glass trophy marking their achievement at an upcoming fixture.

Judges from sponsors Macron and the Ryman League made their choices after considering a shortlist of potential clashes before casting their vote based on the result, form and the circumstances behind the winning performances.

After a tough start to the campaign and a change of management, Cray Wanderers can celebrate taking the Ryman Premier’s accolade for their 2-0 win at high-flying Lowestoft Town’s Crown Meadow. Under new manager Keith Bird, the Wands secured their first away success of the campaign on Saturday 9 November when they beat a Trawlerboys side who’d only lost once at home in the league all season.

The players and management at Ryman South Whitstable Town already had plenty to celebrate this week after reaching the FA Trophy’s Second Round and will collect their first performance award of the campaign for their 3-1 victory at home to Corinthian Casuals on Saturday November 23. In the crucial encounter at the wrong end of the table, Nicky Southall’s side earned three points to pull away from trouble.

Heybridge Swifts saw their manager Mark Hawkes depart for Conference South Chelmsford City last week and he leaves them with another fond memory and trophy after they took the Ryman North’s laurels for a series top class performances.

It is clearer why the Clarets opted to hand their managerial reins to Hawkes as any one of the impressive wins that made the judges’ shortlist could have won. They included a 5-0 away win at Brentwood, a 7-2 home triumph over Wroxham, a 7-0 demolition of Erith & Belvedere and crucially in terms of points for the second in the table Swifts, a 2-1 away win at leaders VCD Athletic on Saturday 16 November.
