Martin double eases Ware's worries

By Peter Butcher

WARE eased their Ryman North relegation fears tonight (Thursday) with a 3-2 home win over Waltham Abbey. They are now eight points clear of bottom club Ilford.

Two teams in the lower reaches of the table produced a thoroughly entertaining contest which was settled by a cool Tony Martin finish past advancing keeper Jake Whincup in the 86th minute.

The visitors took the lead on the half-hour when Liam Foster tripped Louis Bristow and Tom Bruno made no mistake with the resultant penalty.

A defensive slip allowed Jordan Gill to equalise in added time at the end of the first half and Martin (pictured) put Ware ahead with a superb 25-yard strike just after the hour. James Peagram’s well-taken effort made it 2-2 ten minutes later but Martin was to have the last word.
