Moatsiders bring in former chief Terror

Merstham appoint Wilson

Merstham have announced that the man to step into Hayden Bird's remarkably large shoes is former Tooting and Mitcham United manager Frank Wilson.

Frank led the Terrors to London Senior Cup glory, then followed that with the Bostik Division One South title- his side renowned for the type of free-flowing attacking football that Merstham fans have become used to in recent times. Since leaving Tooting in May last year he has most recently been involved at Kingstonian, where he has been assisting Kim Harris since March.

Merstham Chairman, Chris Chapman speaking about his new manager, stated:

"As you might expect, we had some very high-quality applicants for the role, and it certainly wasn't an easy decision. But in the end, we all felt Frank would be a very good fit for us. We want someone who embraces our values as a football club, but also as a community club and is keen to help develop our successful youth programme. Frank certainly ticked those boxes for us. We know we need someone who has managed at this level before and can quickly pull together a first-team squad that will be competitive in a league that looks very evenly balanced, as we saw last season. We look forward to working closely with Frank as we begin the next phase of our journey."

Please note- this appointment was made on Thursday 6th June. Due to holiday commitments we're playing catch-up!
