Monday's Ryman Premier action review

Ryman League Premier Division

Kingstonian held on to top spot in the Ryman Premier table for 24 hours at least despite being beaten 2-1 at Kingsmeadow by an impressive Bognor Regis Town on Monday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Bognor enjoyed a second successive away victory in three days, and as at Billericay Town on Saturday, it was another late goal that clinched the points.

The visitors took the lead with 23 minutes gone when striker Ben Godfrey fired a powerful effort past Rob Tolfrey in the K`s goal. The home side eventually pulled back on level terms on 65 minutes when Andre McCollin scored from close range.

But as K`s went in search of a second goal they were caught on the counter-attack with just four minutes to go when Kane Wills powered forward. He was hauled down in the box by Matt Drage, who received a second yellow card before Ben Johnson converted the resultant spot-kick and what proved to be the winner.

The other Monday game was a derby at Earlsmead between Harrow Borough and tenants Hendon. And it was the landlords who suffered, going down to a 3-1 defeat.

Both sides went into the match in decent form – Harrow having beaten Dulwich Hamlet on Saturday and Hendon after earning an impressive away win at Lowestoft Town at the weekend. But it was the `visitors` who drew first blood after just four minutes when the much-travelled Jefferson Louis headed in following a free-kick.

Almost immediately after Harrow restarted the game, the Greens doubled their lead with another Louis header. Simeon Akinola reduced the arrears nine minutes into the second half but the tenants made sure of victory in the final minute of when Tony Taggart netted via a deflection.
