Monday's Ryman Premier action review

By David Watters

Ryman League Premier Division

Leiston suffered their heaviest defeat of the season at New Lodge on Monday night, going down to a 7-0 defeat at the hands of Billericay Town in the Ryman League's Premier Division after playing for an hour with ten-men, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Leiston, short of one or two regulars, including leading scorer Gareth Heath, Joe Francis and Stuart Boardley, fell behind four minutes before the interval to a Rowan Liburd effort – 11 minutes after Danny Cunningham had been red-carded.

And the hosts took control of the numerical advantage to score three further goals from Afolabi Obafemi five minutes after the break, Steve Sheehan 11 minutes from time and an own goal from Tom Bullard in the 89th minute to propel themselves back into the play-off mix – Craig Edwards' side now being just three points behind sixth-placed Leiston.
