New Angel, New Mackerel Man- and Phoenix Ben becomes a Gill!

By Ian Townsend

Transfer news from Tonbridge, Sports and Worthing

After a collection of exciting signings over the summer, you might have been forgiven for believing that Tonbridge Angels manager Steve McKimm had finished his pre-season strengthening- but you'd be wrong. His latest recruit is former Faversham Town and- briefly- Walton Casuals striker Liam King. Signed with help from the clubs 12th Man Fund, King found the back of the net three times against Herne Bay at the weekend.

Phoenix Sports are losing a player rather than adding one, and they couldn't be more delighted, as seventeen year old Youth Team graduate Ben Allen has signed for Gillingham on a two year deal. There's a possibility that he may feature for the Gills Under 23 side as early as tomorrow night, and coincidentally that match is against Worthing at Woodside Road! The Mackerel Men have also been busy, Adam Hinshelwood securing the loan signing of goalkeeper Tom McGill from Premier League neighbours Brighton & Hove Albion. Eighteen years old and with six caps for the England Under 17 side, Albion believe that this move will give McGill good experience, and have faith in Hinshelwood to assist the player with his development.
