No room for complacency at leaders

Needham Market manager Mark Morsley is warning his Ryman North leaders that their games against Cray Wanderers and Heybridge Swifts could be their toughest yet.

The Marketmen welcome third-bottom Wanderers to Bloomfields on Saturday before hosting 19th-placed Swifts on Tuesday as they look to build on their current impressive form.

Despite sitting four points clear at the top of table after a 3-1 victory at Soham Town Rangers on Tuesday night and knocking Cambridge City out of the FA Cup at the weekend, Morsley, pictured, is warning his side against showing any signs of complacency.

On Friday he told the www.buryfreepress.co.uk: "Beating Cambridge was no fluke — we were the better side on the day and the performance was excellent. It couldn’t have been much harder than going to Soham after that and so I’m delighted with the complete performance we put on.

"Being top is great, but we have to be wary. The next two games are very dangerous and probably the hardest we’ve had in a way. We have to be right because if we under estimate either of them in the slightest we will get punished."

He added: "Being the form team will always bring different problems because teams will raise their game and will be looking to cause a shock. On paper, these are games we should be expected to win, but football is not played on paper — these are the matches that can be the mark of champions."
