Northwood to be sponsored by...Northwood

Confused? Read on!

We don't normally write articles about clubs and their sponsors, unless they involve stadiums changing name. But we thought we'd make an exception just this once, because Northwood have been in touch to advise us that their sponsors this season will be Northwood, causing much initial confusion in Isthmian Towers.

The first Northwood, as you know, play in the Isthmian South Central Division, and Chairman Ian Barry is overjoyed with his new sponsors:

"I’m delighted to welcome ‘Northwood ‘ as our Main Sponsor for a minimum of two seasons. The deal recognises our own ambitions and importantly continues our link with a local company. As the club continues to move forward in all areas, the significance of this announcement bears resemblance to our determination to continue growing and we thank all at Northwood for their generosity and support and we all look forward to a long and fruitful relationship. "

The other Northwood, just to make it clear, are manufacturers of professional paper hygiene products, and apparently the players will be running out wearing the logo of their Rhino Kitchen Towels across their chests. The firm have released a statement explaining that the new funding will "...support Northwood FC in its ambition to acquire more top players as it strives to challenge for Step 3 promotion." So perhaps we should look out for some significant signings shortly!

Northwood’s (the company, not the club) marketing manager, Paul Mulready, added:

“We were delighted to take the opportunity to support our namesake team, based not far from our Harrow operation, as it works towards becoming an even bigger and better club."
