Oystermen call for community support

Whitstable Town manager Nicky Southall is calling on the Kent town’s community to start getting behind his Ryman South Oystermen.

Southall’s side are away at Hendon on Sunday in the FA Trophy after making it through to the competition’s First Round but Town’s manager wants to see more fans behind them when they are next at home in league and cup action.

Southall believes getting more members of their local community behind his FA Trophy heroes at the Belmont for the remainder of the season can help take the club to the next level.

Southall, pictured, said: "I hope for all the efforts of the players and staff at the football club that the people of Whitstable really embrace the club, get behind us and support us. One of my main targets when I got the job was to try and interact with the community and get them involved and coming along to games."

Southall, whose side beat Corinthian-Casuals 3-1 at home last Saturday and are next at home to Peacehaven & Telescombe on the first Saturday in December, added: "We want to get our league season on track. We have eleven games coming up in December and we’re going to be tested to the maximum. There are about 35,000 people in the town and success has been a long time coming at the club. Hopefully, together we can all take the club to the next level."
