Whitstable Town have unveiled Jaymie Allan as the new manager of the Ryman South club's U21 side.

The Scotsman replaces Steve Woollcott who left The Belmont on Wednesday. He was thanked by the Oystermen for his services in a statement released by officials who hope he will stay on at the club in another role after helping to bed in his successor.

The Oystermen said: "The club would like to acknowledge and thank Steve Woollcott for his efforts and support during his tenure; whilst Steve is stepping aside the Wards and all at the club are hoping he will remain involved in some capacity or other."

Allan, a PE instructor with the prison service, was at Derby County as a youth and has a wealth of Non-League experience having played for Bognor Regis Town, Sittingbourne, Herne Bay briefly, Bridlington Town and Worksop Town.

The 43-year-old UEFA B licence holder managed Sheppy United for six years until 2010. The Oystermen say he is relishing the opportunity of working with joint managers Jim and Danny Ward and preparing players to step up to senior level after accompanying Woollcott to his last couple of training sessions and last Saturday's U21 win at Worthing.
