Burnham Ramblers

Burnham Ramblers manager Keith Wilson believes his newly-promoted side have already proved their Ryman North credentials.

The Leslie Field outfit have made an encouraging start following promotion as Essex Senior League champions, winning two of their opening five games and giving a fright to two other sides with top-six potential.

Ramblers were 4-3 up at neighbours Maldon & Tiptree on Saturday – only for the game to be abandoned at half-time because of heavy downpours. But they followed it up by winning 1-0 at home to Waltham Forest on Bank Holiday Monday.

A content Wilson told the Maldon & Burnham Standard on Friday: "We’ve proved we can be competitive in this division and, in terms of points, we’re more or less on track with where I’d hoped we’d be. Overall, I’ve been very happy."

Wilson, who's side take a break from league action to travel to Redbridge on Saturday in the FA Cup added: "We’ve won a couple of matches and could and should have got something from the games against Erith & Belvedere and Tilbury. On top of that, we’ve also really pushed two sides that should finish in the top six – Maldon and Needham Market. There’s lots to be positive about and we’re enjoying it so far. We’re on schedule."
