Burnham Ramblers’s officials are looking forward to stepping up community work at the Ryman North’s Leslie Fields after announcing that they’d earned accreditation as a Football Association Charter Standard Club.

The Ramblers received formal notice from the FA on Thursday that their application to start climbing the governing body’s three rung charter standard ladder had been successful. A plaque and certificate marking their new status as an FA Charter Standard Adult Club is now on its way to them.

The award is given to clubs proven to be well run, sustainable and demonstrating an on-going commitment to raising standards by providing a positive experience for players, coaches, referees, administrators and volunteers alike as well as their approach to child protection and safety.

Last season’s Essex Senior League champions, who are now eligible to apply to become a FA Charter Standard Development Club and eventually achieve the highest level as an FA Charter Standard Community Club, are delighted with the news.

Burnham Secretary Shaun Pugh said: “This award is a statement that we are a well-run motivated Club, with a good base of volunteers moving the club forward. By achieving this status, we are demonstrating to everyone that we are a well-organised and safe club, who will be looking to promote the game further within the community.”
